DETAIL PLUS Car Appearance Systems has added a new extra service system to their line of cosmetic car care products. The Professional Headlight Restoration System that will restore all polycarbonate and plastic headlights to a like new condition in less than an hour.

The system features a mini-buffing tool onto which you attach the sanding disks and polishing pads, reducing time to restore to a few minutes as opposed to hand sanding.

Also included, are the necessary series of sanding disks in various grits, foam polishing pads, and special polishing compounds/polishes to restore the lens to a like-new finish.

The road is coming to an end for the Tesla Roadster.

Automaker Tesla Motors (TSLA) will stop taking orders for the car in the U.S. in about two months as the carmaker focuses on its Model S electric sedan.

Priced around $109,000 dollars, the two seat Tesla Roadster sports car was never intended to be a huge seller. Tesla reported sales of 1,650 Roadsters worldwide by the end of April, 2011. The car is sold in North America, Europe and 
Asia.

With its performance and relatively long driving range, the Tesla Roadster helped change the perception of electric cars from being little more than golf carts with doors to actual viable production vehicles.

The Roadster can go from zero to sixty miles per hours in under four seconds, according to Tesla, and can travel about 250 miles on a charge.

Former General Motors (GM) vice chairman Bob Lutz has credited it with helping to spur GM’s development of the Chevrolet Volt.

Tesla’s next big thing: Tesla’s roadster production is coming to halt as the maker of battery-powered cars switches its focus to the upcoming Model S electric sedan.

The first sales of the Model S sedan are expected to begin around the middle of 2012.

At a starting price of about $58,000, the base model will have a driving range of 160 miles, Tesla said, but buyers will be able to pay more for versions with larger battery packs and longer driving ranges. The first ones sold will have an estimated driving range of 300 miles with a price tag closer to $80,000.

Model S will be able to seat up seven people when equipped with an optional third row of rear-facing seats. Tesla hopes to be able to sell as many as 20,000 of the cars by 2013.

Besides building its own cars, Tesla has a business partnership with Toyota Motor Co (TM) to produce a plug-in electric version of the RAV4 SUV and a deal with Daimler (DDAIF) to provide batteries for an electric version of the Smart ForTwo minicar.

The Model S sedan will be built in a California factory that was once used jointly by Toyota and GM.

Auto Detailing Steam Machine Distributors and Manufacturers

Steamers are being used by more and more detail shops and mobile detailers. Steamers provide tremendous cleaning capability without the need for chemicals.

Loyal Customers Credited for More Than Two Decades of Achievement  

IPSWICH, MA June 1 2011 – Jim Goguen of Jim’s Auto Installations & Detailing Center announces today, the beginning of a yearlong celebration of 25 years of excellence in the automotive detailing and restyling industry. One of only 28 detailers in the U.S. asked recently to test and provide feedback on a new cleaning product launched by industry leader, Meguiars; Jim’s Auto was twice selected as a member of the Air Force One detailing team, thanks to double honors bestowed by the Attention to Details training program. Named both a Certified Master Detailer and Doctorate of Detailing, Jim designed and built the winning “Outstanding in Class” truck at the World of Wheels Boston 2010 for one of his customers. They are also a long time member of both the Ipswich and Northshore Chambers of Commerce, the IDA (International Detailing Association), and the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA). 

Jim’s Auto opened their doors on June 1, 1986 as a tiny detailing shop and car audio professional inside John’s Citgo on Central Street in Ipswich. By 1992, Jim’s Auto had added several automotive services to their line-up, including window tinting and truck accessories. That led to a need for more space. They moved into their current location at 5 Washington Street alongside TNT Car Wash where in 2001, they doubled their space to 1,200 square feet and added two work bays and a comfortable office area where customers could wait… or shop. 

Customer demands for additional products and services led the way. Today, Jim’s Auto is known in the community as a car lover’s toy store with everything you can imagine for the automotive aftermarket. “We listen to the needs of our customers. When they talked to us about car tint and vinyl lettering and graphics – we obliged; and as the car audio aspects of the business evolved into higher technology like navigational systems, Bluetooth, and car video capabilities – we took action to grow that end of the business as well.” 

Goguen recognizes his customers as the driving force behind their steady growth over the years. “The backbone to our success is our loyal customer base.
